Get a mask that fits your face properly. It should seal around your eyes and nose without leaking or pinching. Try on different sizes to find the best fit
Use a snorkel with a comfortable mouthpiece that seals well. A dry snorkel with a purge valve helps keep water out and makes clearing it easier.
Fins are optional but can help you swim more efficiently. Make sure they fit comfortably over your feet
Getting In the Water
Relax and float face-down on the surface, breathing slowly and deeply through the snorkel. Use your fins to gently propel yourself
If water gets in your mask, tilt your head back, look up, hold your breath and exhale through your nose to clear it.
To clear water from your snorkel, surface and blow forcefully to expel the water.
Snorkeling Techniques
Breathe slowly and deeply through your mouth using the snorkel. Exhale fully to exchange the air in the tube and prevent CO2 buildup.
Swim slowly and use your fins efficiently to conserve energy. Take breaks when needed.
Be aware of your surroundings and other snorkelers. Look up every minute or so to check for boats or hazards
Avoid touching marine life or coral, which can be fragile and harmful if disturbed
With the right gear, proper breathing technique, and some practice, snorkelling is a relaxing way to observe the fascinating underwater world. Stay calm, breathe easy, and enjoy the experience.
